This is mostly off-topic, about society's view on age and "sag". Included is a photo and a painting, both NWS, therefore, "18+ only, due to nudity"
I painted this a couple days ago...

...from this photo, found in the Oprah magazine talking about a new book called The Century Project.

You know, 'saggy' has such a negative connotation in our society. Why is it bad to be 'saggy'? Why is it bad to be well-aged? Does the spirit of this woman shine through any less because her body looks like that of someone her age? I've never seen anyone nude over the age of about 35... I think anyone over that age is afraid to show themselves. The minute I saw this photo, I saw the look on her face, in her eyes, and her smile was contagious! I think she's one of the most beautiful people I've seen. If I can smile like that when I'm 94, I'll be a happy woman. Plus, what could be cuter than her perfectly round belly?

I love the quote at the bottom of the photo. She made me smile, too.

I love how, in your painting, her face seems to glow so that you can't see features. It's like you painted her spirit as well

I'm pleased that Dove, following on from it's curvy women ads, is now promoting 'pro age'.

It's interesting you say that. I've had some trouble reconciling myself to the "sag" in my breasts, and yet, now you say that it makes me think... I've actually seen quite a lot of nude elderly women, as I work as a Health Care Assistant and I help them to wash, and I was never found anything unpleasant about the shapes of their body. In fact, when I wash people at the hospital I often find myself marvelling about how pretty so many different shapes can be. I've helped people of all ages, races, etc. to wash and dress and each body is different. And they were all pleasant and soft and...human.

I guess maybe it's time I apply that same standard to my slightly-low-slung breasts, huh?

Thank you for making me think. I really love your painting! And thank you, Mary.
